Brief
To redesign Represent's primer, a hybrid zine that with print and digital content for students to learn about current affairs from multiple perspectives.
About Project
Each magazine issue is framed as a Fight Club, tackling two opposing sides of conflict. Readers can read from either ends of the zine – the intention is to bring dual perspectives to the topic of contention. Heavily references retro aesthetics, the covers are inspired by old-school posters with bold lettering and starbursts. While the content may be educational, the design approach is anything but. Unserious vocabulary definitions and character profiles are scattered within the pages, the brain children of Serene, the editor. Being an illustration-heavy zine, we also worked together with other talented illustrators – Mark, Vanessa, Isabella and Claire – to bring the characters and stories to life. And these were also not possible without the help of Vanessa and Liz, the Art Director and Director, to push the designs to their fullest potential.
